Sound Of Contact are going out on a special tour of North America in August and September. Dubbed Bring The Prog Back, the band will play their entire debut album Dimensionaut. SoC will be joined by a host of other prog artists that will vary from city to city, including Spock’s Beard, District 97, Jolly, Edison’s Children and Francis Dunnery.

Dunnery’s set promises to be very innovative. It’s being called iRig Gig, and he’ll be performing with music gadgets for the iPhone and iPad by IK Multimedia.

Each show is to end with musicians from different acts on the bill getting onstage together, to play a Bring The Prog Back medley of classic progressive songs.

Sound Of Contact vocalist/drummer Simon Collins says: “We’re doing this tour with a lot of modern progressive rock bands carrying the torch forward into the future. It’s oddly poetic that we bookend the tour playing shows with some of the significant originators of the genre”.

Prior to this tour, Sound Of Contact will be opening the main stage for the inaugural Yestival, which happens in Camden, New Jersey on August 3. And on September 20 and 21, Collins, Dunnery and SOC keyboard player Dave Kerzner are to play with Steve Hackett on his Genesis Revisited 2 shows in Chicago.
