Through the use of an online scavenger hunt, Avenged Sevenfold have unveiled the key details of their upcoming album, including its title, release date and cover artwork. The new disc is called ‘Hail to the King’ and will be unleashed on Aug. 27.
The album, produced by Mike Elizondo, will be Avenged Sevenfold’s follow-up to 2010′s ‘Nightmare,’ which spawned such hits as ‘Welcome to the Family,’ ‘So Far Away’ and ‘Buried Alive.’
‘Hail to the King’ will also mark the first A7X album featuring drummer Arin Ilejay. The previous disc, ‘Nightmare’ included drums from the late Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan and ex-Dream Theater stickman Mike Portnoy.
As for the disc’s sound, M. Shadows has said that the album will have a Black Sabbath / Led Zeppelin feel to it.
Avenged Sevenfold have a handful of U.S. tour dates currently on their schedule, including a headlining gig at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento in September. They are also slated to embark on a European tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Device at the end of the year.
