We like to make it a point here not
to bore you with the not-so-exciting business aspects of making and
sharing music, but we're so psyched about our new adventure that we just
had to tell you about it as we officially launch our very own record
label, Blackened Recordings.
Some of you, who have followed along throughout the years, are aware
that in 1994 we renegotiated our contract with the Warner Music Group,
which resulted in a joint venture with our record company for releasing
all of our recordings including long form videos. Per that agreement,
as of today we have taken ownership of all of our master recordings and
Blackened Recordings will be the home of all of our current albums and
videos along with all future releases including the December 10th release
of the "Quebec Magnetic” DVD and Blu-ray.
You may have heard us say it once or twice or a thousand times
before, but it's always been about us taking control of all things
'Tallica to give you 110% on every single level every single time.
Forming Blackened Recordings is the ultimate in independence, putting us
in the driver's seat of our own creative destiny. We're looking
forward to making more music and getting it all out to you in our own
unique way.

March 26, 2013 is going to be a very good day for SEVENDUST fans. That day brings the highly anticipated release of the band’s brand new album, their ninth studio effort, BLACK OUT THE SUN, on their 7Bros. Records label (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group). The first single, “Decay,” will be released to radio and available for download at online retail outlets January 22, 2013.
Anxious to share the scorching new sounds, SEVENDUST will set out on a headlining tour with Lacuna Coil starting February 2, 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC at Ziggy’s. Tickets for the shows listed below will go on-sale Friday, November 30, 2012. Fans should check their local ticket outlets for purchase info. More shows for SEVENDUST are currently in the works and will be announced in the coming months.
In a recent interview with Revolver, guitarist John Connolly described the new music as having “a darker vibe…but there’s still plenty of melody. It fits right in with ANIMOSITY, ALPHA and our self-titled album. Lots of heavy stuff and some more mellow moody songs as well.” As guitarist Clint Lowery proclaims in Guitar World, “There’s a dark turn to the whole thing…in a lot of ways, it’s your typical SEVENDUST record.” The magazine goes on to declare that BLACK OUT THE SUN “will eclipse its predecessors with its southern-rock brutality and bursts of industrial and reggae.”
For BLACK OUT THE SUN, the band--Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals) and John Connolly (guitar/vocals)—decided to self-produce and record the new album at The Architekt Studios in Butler, NJ with the help of mixer/engineer Mike Ferretti (who also worked with Lowery and Rose on CALL ME NO ONE’s debut album, LAST PARADE, which was released June 5 on 7Bros Records).
BLACK OUT THE SUN is the follow-up to COLD DAY MEMORY, which was released April 20, 2010 and debuted at #12 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, the highest debut of the bands' storied 8 studio album, 15 year career. Along with it being SEVENDUST's highest charting debut ever, the album's first single, "Unraveling,” set a debut milestone as well. It entered the BDS Active Rock radio chart higher than any other SEVENDUST track. It surpassed 2003's "Enemy," which wound up peaking at #6 and is currently their highest charting song to date. At radio, "Unraveling" is the most well received SEVENDUST song ever.
Italy's LACUNA COIL is proud to announce that they will visit the US in early 2013 in their first tour of the New Year. The band will head out with SEVENDUST on a 17-date run throughout the month of February. The tour kicks off on February 2, 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC and tickets for the tour go on-sale Friday, November 30, 2012. Fans should check their local ticketing outlets for information on how to purchase tickets.
LACUNA COIL has spent the past year touring the world in support of their new album, DARK ADRENALINE. Released earlier this year via Century Media Records, the album debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, selling nearly 20,000 units in its first week, and spawned the crushing first single "Trip The Darkness." The band has sold upwards of 800,000 units in the US alone and with six full-length albums, two EPs, various singles and a DVD under their belt; LACUNA COIL maintains their prominent role in the modern rock scene.

Myles Richard Kennedy (born Myles Richard Bass; November 27, 1969) is an American musician and singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Alter Bridge, and as the lead vocalist in Slash's current solo project.
James Marshall Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix;
November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American musician, singer
and songwriter. Despite a limited mainstream exposure of four years, he
is widely considered to have been the greatest electric guitarist in
the history of popular music, and one of the most important musicians of
the 20th century.
Very exciting news from the former vocalist and guitarist from Frost* and Darwin's Radio!! Dec Burke has announced his new band, Alpha Flood, featuring:Kristoffer Gildenlow (ex Pain of Salvation),
keyboardist Richard West (Threshold), guitarist Simon Andersson
(Darkwater) and drummer Collin Leijenaar (Neal Morse Band).
In an interview with Prog Magazine, Dec had this to say about the new group:
Collin came up with it, and we all thought it was really cool, so we’ve run with it. It rolls off the tongue!
Has it taken a while to settle the lineup?
Having done my solo thing for the last two years, I wanted to put
together a new band with some well-known musicians I admired. I asked
Collin, and he said yes. Collin is turn asked Kris. I was friends with
Simon and I asked him, and then we asked Richard West to complete the
lineup.
What are your immediate plans?
Immediate plans are to get recording underway. We have a lot of material
demoed up. The plan is to do a song and let people hear that, and at
the same time record the album proper with a view of having that ready
by early spring. We may have a little teaser available as early as
December, all being well. As far a live shows go we would love to. We
are speaking with promoters at the moment.
What’s the artistic intention with this outfit as opposed to previous ones?
The intention is simple: we want to write and record great songs that
move us, and hopefully that in turn will move the listener in a positive
way.
How do you expect the band dynamic to work – is there going to be a leader and followers or a democratic setup?
It’s very democratic – lots of opinions and ideas! But considering we’ve
known each other for such a short time, it’s amazing how well we all
get on. Everyone writes, so there’s a great pool of ideas. We’re already
looking ahead to how we will approach a follow-up album… Mad!
What do you hope to achieve?
We want to deliver an album that has great songs and great performances
from everyone, and a great production. So if we can achieve that it will
be a great first step. Beyond that, it would be some live dates to get
the word out there that Alpha Flood is here.
Avenged Sevenfold turn up as performing characters in the new ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ video game, but there have been a few people suggesting that late drummer The Rev also makes a guest appearance as a grainy figure in the balcony. However, singer M. Shadows says that any likeness to their drummer was purely unintentional and was not something they signed off on.
He told Kerrang, “I’ve seen people saying this. The possibility of adding The Rev was mentioned, but it would have been too weird. Really, the last thing we would want to do is include him in something that he obviously has no say in. By this stage, we’re all about moving on. We love and miss The Rev, but it just wouldn’t feel right or appropriate to put him in the game.”
In addition to the game, Avenged Sevenfold are currently in the process of working on a new record. Shadows says, “I’m incredibly proud of what we’re preparing. I know that in my heart of hearts what we’re working on is something special and we can stand tall behind this new music for the next year and however long.”
The rocker adds, “There’s no point in going out there on the road and putting all your energy into something if you don’t believe in it wholeheartedly. What’s inspiring is how into this everyone is and how fired up we all are about making a kick ass new record.”
The group added Arin Illejay on drums during the latter half of supporting their ‘Nightmare’ album, and Shadows reveals that Illejay has been involved in the writing process.
"King Animal", the first collection of all-new material in 16 years from grunge legends SOUNDGARDEN, and first since the group reunited in 2010, sold 83,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"To be able to come back, especially after such a long break, and create an album that I believe lives up to the legacy of all of the other albums — I think that's a special thing. It's something that doesn't happen very often." - Chris Cornell on coming back after the grunge era.
SOUNDGARDEN blasted through 23 songs in front of 1,000 people at New York City's Irving Plaza nightclub on November 13 in the first of three such shows to celebrate the arrival of "King Animal".
