New MARILLION Album September 23rd (tour dates)

FEAR
("FUCK EVERYONE AND RUN")

THE NEW MARILLION ALBUM TO BE RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 23 ON earMUSIC

earMUSIC is delighted to announce the release of the brand new Marillion album FEAR [Fuck Everyone And Run] on September 23, 2016. The album will be available on SuperAudio-CD DigiPak [strictly limited to the first run], CD JewelCase, LP and Digital formats. This, the band’s eighteenth studio album, features five brand new tracks and the feeling within the band themselves is that they may well have produced their best ever work. Marillion has certainly not mellowed with age; the album artwork shows the acronym FEAR embossed on a gold ingot, and the songs themselves bear the hallmark of true quality.

Whilst the album title itself is certainly provocative, it’s not meant to be offensive. The title itself features as a line in the track 'New Kings' and is delivered as a plaintive falsetto. Steve Hogarth said, "We've used FEAR as a title with some relish, but only as it shows that we haven’t shied away, but it's said with sadness. There are two basic impulses behind human behaviour: Love and Fear, and all the good stuff comes from love."

FEAR sees the band taking on the big themes but they do not see it as their place to preach to people. "New Kings" looks at the ravening beast that modern capitalism seems to have evolved into, "El Dorado" examines the notions of political entitlement and the modern challenges for the UK, "The Leavers" examines the impact of a transient life on the road for those constantly waving goodbye.

The job is simple, says Hogarth: "We use the amazing privilege of having both a platform and an audience to encourage people to look in the mirror and ask themselves the big questions – by doing just that ourselves."

Buoyed by the feeling that on FEAR they have very much nailed both the music and the lyrics, Marillion are looking forward to touring the new material. The focus has been on bottling that lightning that typifies the creative process, staying away from the safety zone and getting it right.

As Hogarth says, "We don't know how many more albums we'll make, or how long we'll live.  Everything has to be the best it can be."

With the final tinkering and finessing done, with FEAR, Marillion show that they are as vital and potent as ever. Peerless and, yes, fearless…

Happy Birthday BRIAN "HEAD" WELCH (video)

#brianwelch #head #rockfileradio
Brian Phillip Welch (born June 19, 1970), better known by the stage name Head, is an American musician best known as one of the guitarists and co-founder of the nu metal band Korn and his solo project Love and Death. Along with fellow Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, Welch helped develop Korn's distinctive sound, a mix of sirenlike shards of dissonant guitar that mimicked a turntablist's various effects and rumbling down-tuned riffing, that defined the nu metal aesthetic beginning in the mid-'90s.

After becoming a born again Christian, Welch left the band in 2005 to focus on life as a father and to pursue his own solo career. He released his debut Christian album Save Me from Myself, in 2008. He reunited with Korn on-stage at the Carolina Rebellion on May 5, 2012 for the first time in seven years, and on May 2, 2013, officially announced rejoining the band. Welch and Munky were ranked at No. 26 of Guitar World's 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time.

Happy Birthday SIMON WRIGHT (video)

#simonwright #rockfileradio
Simon Wright (born 19 June 1963) is an English drummer best known for his time with rock n' roll bands AC/DC and Dio. He started playing drums at the age of 13 and cites Cozy Powell, Tommy Aldridge and John Bonham as his greatest influences. He was also the drummer for the band Rhino Bucket. He is currently playing with Hellion and Operation: Mindcrime.
Wright, just a month shy of turning twenty years old, joined AC/DC after their drummer, Phil Rudd, left in May 1983. AC/DC recorded three albums with Wright in the mid-late 80s; Fly on the Wall, Who Made Who and Blow Up Your Video. Wright left the group in November 1989 to join Dio, and was replaced by Chris Slade. Simon Wright joined Rhino Bucket when he wasn't working with Dio to replace the departed Liam Jason for their third album, 1994's independently released Pain. In 2007, he reunited with the band and is featured on their latest album The Hardest Town.

Wright has had two stints with Dio, 1990–91 and 1998–2010. With the band he has recorded four studio albums (Lock up the Wolves, Magica, Killing the Dragon and Master of the Moon) and two live albums (Evil or Divine - Live In New York City and Holy Diver - Live).
His drumming can be heard on albums by UFO, Michael Schenker Group and John Norum.

In 2005, Wright participated on a tribute album to Heavy metal icons Iron Maiden. It was his second of three times doing a tribute disc; the first experience being in 1998 on an AC/DC tribute album titled Thunderbolt, while in 2013 he took part in the DIO Tribute album "This Is Your Life".

In 2006 Wright is credited in the song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" on the album Butchering the Beatles, a heavy metal tribute.

In August 2009, Wright teamed up with Joe Lynn Turner, Phil Soussan and Carlos Cavazo as part of the Big Noize project, playing shows in Iraq and Kuwait.
On 25 January 2013, it was announced that Wright had joined Geoff Tate's band after his dismissal from Queensrÿche. Wright replaced Bobby Blotzer.
